Released v1.0 Editor-onlyIcon GeneratorStandalone

Icon Smith renders high-quality, transparent icons from your meshes and actors inside an isolated capture scene, then writes them as Texture2D assets into a folder you choose. It depends on no game system and assigns nothing automatically — it renders only what you hand it and drops the results wherever you want.

Icon Smith — Standalone Icon Generator
🎨
Render Any Mesh Into a Clean Icon
Transparent Alpha Cutout
Every icon is captured with a true alpha channel against a transparent background. Use Background Mode to composite over a solid colour or gradient — edges stay perfectly clean either way thanks to supersampled capture.
🔦
Fixed Studio Lighting Rig
A self-contained three-light studio rig (key, fill, rim) inside an isolated preview scene lights every icon identically, regardless of your open level. No sky, no skylight bleed, no surprises.
📐
Automatic Framing
The object's bounds are measured and the camera distance is set so it fits the icon perfectly with your chosen Frame Padding — no matter the real-world size of the mesh. Every object is centred automatically.
🔍
Live Preview — What You See Is What You Get
The centre viewport shows the exact result before you generate. Changing any setting updates the preview in real time. Rotate with Turntable preview, inspect with standard viewport controls, then generate with confidence.
📁
Batch Generation
Add a whole content folder at once with Add Folder, then hit Generate All. The tool processes sequentially with periodic cleanup to stay memory-friendly. Each texture lands in your output folder ready to use.
🔌
Content Browser Integration
Right-click any static mesh, skeletal mesh, or actor Blueprint in the Content Browser and choose Generate Icon(s) to queue and open the tool instantly. Also accessible via toolbar button and Ctrl+Shift+I.
Output & Settings
📏
Resolution & Supersampling
Set output size from 16 to 4096 px (square). Supersample Factor (1–4) renders at a larger size then downscales, delivering crisp anti-aliased edges. Default 256 px at 4× supersampling.
🎞
Camera Presets & Custom Angle
Choose from 3/4 View, Front, Side, Top, or dial in a Custom Yaw/Pitch. Perspective or Orthographic projection. Consistent angle across every icon in a batch when locked to a preset.
💾
Overwrite In Place
Turn on Overwrite Existing to update the same-named Texture2D asset in place — any material or UMG references you already wired up stay valid automatically.
🗂
Presets
Save a complete look (lighting, camera, resolution, background) into an IconSmithPreset data asset. Share it across a team for a consistent icon style across the whole project.
🛡
Fully Standalone — Zero Dependencies
🔒
No Game Module Links
Icon Smith links against no game module, hard-codes no other plugin's class paths, and never opens, reads, or edits any existing game asset. It only renders the meshes and actors you explicitly add.
📦
Editor-Only — Zero Shipping Cost
Icon Smith is an Editor-type module. Unreal excludes it from all Game, Server, Client, and packaged builds automatically — it adds zero cost, zero size to your shipped game.
